A Lifting Nursing Home Visit
Hello Everybody,
I just wanted to pass on something that I did with Ian, my rough tri boy last week. My father is now in a nursing home, and even though Ian didn’t even have his CGC, I was allowed to bring him to visit. While there, we walked all over the home and visited with many of the residents which of course had a collie too when they were young.
There is one special resident, a young man about 30 years old, that I had met before while visiting my dad, who is paraplegic, due to an unfortunate accident. He was so happy to see Ian, but somewhat sad that he could not pet him. Ian got right next to him in his motorized wheelchair and looked at him with an expression of understanding that, that it nearly brought tears to my eyes.
Then without noticing right away, the young man’s wife said “Debbie look!” and low and behold, the young man had somehow dropped his arm down and his hand rested on Ian’s head. With that, Ian moved forward, just enough for the young man’s hand to trail down his back.
The look on the young man’s face was incredible!
